Las Vegas Secret Deals has been around since 2008, which in the life of the internet is actually a very long time. Over the course of that time period, we’ve gone through a lot of changes. In the beginning, we wrote about the best deals that Las Vegas had to offer, then solicited donations to help keep the site running. In a short period of time, hotel chains and airlines began offering us a commission if we sent them business.

Over the course of several years, the site slowly degraded into a mirror image of every other travel website, covered from top to bottom in the latest hotel advertisements. Then came the tipping point. In what seemed to be a simultaneous event, all the hotels said that they would not pay commissions on rooms booked through promotions, plus we would not be paid for show tickets purchased at a discount, and airlines stopped paying for any bookings unless they were combined with hotel purchases (which, by the way, is rarely a good deal for a Vegas trip). That’s the reason why every other website talks about deals and offers, but you end up paying the same retail price as everyone else. As a site dedicated to secrets and deals, we couldn’t cope with the policy change and just walked away for years.

Fast forward to today. We love Las Vegas and we love deals, so we had to come back. Instead of acting as a travel agent like every other site which try to sell you the most expensive vacation packages they can, we tell you about the actual deals and let the chips fall where they may. We don’t get paid anywhere close to what the other sites make through their commissions, but our theory is that if we offer information that no one else has, we’ll eventually make up the difference due to an increase in web traffic.
